free read Demon Lord (Demon Lord, #1) ´ E-book, or Kindle E-pub Seven blue wards have imprisoned the Black Lord in the Underworld for aeons Now he has stolen a human child and made him. Well I really want to read the second book in the series I guess that means that this was a rather good bookThe beginning was very clumsy It was a rather typical way to give some background into the plot so that it appears to not be so sudden but it just seemed cheesy to me It took me a while to get into the story as I was mostly unconvinced by this beginning something about how it was just a lot of clich s without really giving all too much background and trying to make us feel concerned about something with minimal reason to In other words it tried to set a tone and really did a poor job of itHowever I made my way through it finally to where the story really starts happening And once there it pulled me along rather well and I found myself wanting to read whenever I needed to be doing other things A big part of what really made this book work for me was the lack of your typical good against evil type battles There was a minimal amount of overt clashes or anything of the sort This book focused mainly on two characters Sure one was obviously good and the other obviously evil but they didn t battle or fight or what have you The battle in this book took place in the development of these two characters as they interacted with each otherDespite how that might sound right now in my wording it worked for me I found it generally believable in that there weren t any completely ridiculous or out of character actions on either of their parts the progression of their thoughts made sense enough that I don t recall anything sticking out as odd which is very good and as probably obvious from my other reviews so far a big step towards me liking a novelNow it wasn t perfect There weren t many characters and of the few there were most were rather flat There were scenes between some side characters whose sole purpose seemed to be to explain what was going on to the really dense people in the audience There weren t too many of their scenes but every time they seemed to break into the story to have an expository conversation which was generally about something super obvious and at least one time using an absolutely terrible metaphorBut most of the novel is about two characters each of which is changing as a result of interacting with the other one than the other but it is these two that made the story for me And that s good because that was most of the story Sure there was a straightforward plot that these characters were working to achieve but the story was in the two of them happening to each other which I really enjoyedBack to side characters occasionally one or would go into a flashback of sorts or other out of place narrative tool to explain about the background of the story s universe This while done somewhat poorly was helpful Unfortunately there wasn t a huge amount of development into the magic system which is something I always hope for in series which use magic There is hope that it will be expanded in future books though at this point in the story the characters are very familiar with their power so it seems less likely that it will be further worked out beyond what was mentioned One last point on the magic was the seeming inconsistancies of the amount of power that the characters hadcould use between recharges I didn t sit down to work it out or anything but while reading I recall thinking that based on previous happenings a character should not be able to do much only to have him do what seems like a ton Unfortunately after the events in this book the plot of the rest of the series appears to be of the outright good against evil type conflict though there is still room for these characters to grow So I ll likely be getting the next one soon Zaraza plot so that it appears to not be so sudden but it
